Magnetic Island Coral Reef Field Guide

E.M.T.R.I.E.

Lecture Overview

The lecture program in this course is designed to develop each student's knowledge of the reef environment, regardless of their level of biological training. Lectures are delivered in powerpoint format, with all topics illustrated with extensive pictures from Dr Lewis' digital image library. While a background in Marine Science, Biology or Environmental Studies is certainly an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for taking part in the course, as the academic program is designed to start with simple concepts and gradually move to deliver more detailed information. Many students from Arts or Social Science backgrounds have taken part in the course and had a wonderful time learning about the ecology of Coral Reefs.
