MARINE IMAGE OF THE MONTH

Barracuda
A school of Yellow-tailed Barracuda Sphyraena flavicauda come in for a close look at Florence Bay, Magnetic Island.
This image was taken at Florence Bay during one of my Reef Ecotours, and it also appears on the Magnetic Island Underwater 2005 Calender. Yellow-tailed Barracuda are common in most of the bays around the Island, and can be approached closely underwater. I liked the way the different fish appear in the frame in this shot, each with a slightly varied distance and angle, but all of them clearly looking at the me and the camera!
(Olympus 5050Z, F3.6, 1/125, ISO 100, natural light).
