MARINE IMAGE OF THE MONTH

Pavona
The hard coral Pavona cactus.
In last month's image of Sarcophyton, I ended by saying nature rarely draws straight lines. Here this theme of swirls and folds is continued, in the hard coral Pavona cactus. This coral is from the Family Agaricidae, and the image was taken at Watson's Bay, Lizard Island, March 2005.
(Olympus 5050Z, F8, 1/60, ISO 64, natural light).
